Evening Prayer – O Gladsome Light! – by Stephen Fearnley

I quite often bump into a paradox when making sacred music for OML : Im very conscientious of composing music that feels like a journey or perhaps a landscape or a space that can embrace a very singular intention- such as love or peace or wellbeing or even a specific chakra or even a colour . At the same time – and heres the paradox – this soundscape has to be pared down in detail so that it doesn’t get in the way of your own experience. More like a sandy path that provides a direction – to stop you wandering just enough to keep you in a place that is intrinsically aimed at deep thought- so you can reach alpha brainwave states without trying. This month’s composer’s choice is called Evening Prayer – a universal practise that is found in all religious and sacred rituals. You will notice this universality in the instruments I’ve chosen, even including some slightly detuned Indonesian bells primarily to keep your mind present so you don’t drift off too soon… Ive even referenced ( not sampled) a rhythmic sequence from a song called “ Teardrop” by Massive Attack (1998). The Secret To Attractiveness – Pre-Session

This episode was originally broadcast Jun 17, 2016 We cover so much territory in this Pre-session, from Krishna to Tony Robbins. Listen along as we track the core essence of LOA (the Law of Attraction) as it pertains not only to attracting those we need into our lives but also in the way it makes those we need in our lives appear more attractive to us! During this chat Naomi C got “that scholar look” on her face and reflected on a new friendship, Stephen brought up the subject of how LOA played an important part in the creation of One Mind Live (juicy backstory!), and Naomi J highlighted the difference between the attracting power of thinking about what you want and feeling the joy of already having (and shared a cool trick for how to do this… About our Pre-Sessions: Every week, for 15 minutes or so before we began our group meditation broadcast, we opened the mics so that our members tuning in for the session could listen in while we talked about what was going on for us personally and spiritually, and what trends we were noticing. It was a fun way to get everyone settled andThe Secret To Attractiveness – Pre-Session

Shambhala – by Stephen Fearnley

“For many, the most symbolic aspect of a mountain is the peak because it is believed that it is closest to heaven or other religious worlds”   This painting by Nicolas Roerich was the starting point for this month’s composer’s choice. Its called Vanishing Ice and if you google search his images you will find a huge list of paintings by this enigmatic artist. Roerich is a complex character being an adventurer, a spiritualist, a writer, an archaeologist and painter. He moved in high political circles in the  USA, UK and India and was connected to the theosophical movement and produced a vast amount of magnificent oil paintings in the field , travelling extensively through the Himalayas, India and the rest of the world. He spoke many languages and wrote a book called Shambhala ( not to mention the set designs for Dhiagelev, the setting up of art and yoga schools in New York and perhaps a spot of spying…) Shambhala is a mythical kingdom from Tibetan and Hindu Tradition – mythical in italics because in the modern sense the word implies not real ~ Shambhala points to many cultures’ stories of a place where enlightened humans have created aShambhala – by Stephen Fearnley

Put Yourself In Beauty’s Way

I want to share two things with you. “Expanding Peace” (this month’s Composers Choice) and a picture. Expanding Peace is a deep trance piece – so please don’t operate the dishwasher! The other day I was feeling stressed. After finally realising that there was no sabre tooth tiger about to eat me , I was able to break the fight / flight chemical ‘stress-trance’ I was in, by reminding myself to go find something beautiful. This is a habit I have nurtured over time. It works. Simply go discover something beautiful…immediately. At the time, I was in a museum. I found a brass plaque with the most exquisite light bouncing off it – I saw within the golden metal, a landscape – a seascape – with a beautiful horizon line like the ocean. It looked like a painting by Turner. I took a photo out of disbelief. Shortly, I realised I was back in balance again, having discovered my ‘little wonder’. So, when you need to quickly find remedy for stress-ness start looking for ‘little wonders’ around you. Put on your close-up cinematic eye. Force a state of playfulness as a circuit breaker and take a few pictures with yourPut Yourself In Beauty’s Way
